Holland Hydraulics B.V. has provided a customer in the woodchipping industry with a hydraulic system that is used to start the main drive of a drum chipper machine.

This hydraulic system is used for drum chippers, which is a tried-and-trusted solution for the production of high-quality chips from different wood assortments. The material is gripped horizontally by especially toothed infeed rollers and continuously fed to the chipping rotor. The knives of the rotor cut the material to the required chip length. The chipped material passes an individually adapted refraction grid.

The hydraulic system is used to start the main drive of the drum chipper machine. The power of the main drive can go up to 1600kW. The size and configuration of the hydraulic system depend on the main drive’s power.

This hydraulic system was engineered with a 37kW drive and an axial piston pump with a flow of 80 L/Min. A 10 section manifold(assembled with Parker directional control valves), a separate 7,5kW pump system and a standalone oil cooler are used to achieve customer requirements.

Holland Hydraulics provided the customer with consultancy, engineering, production, installation, commissioning and full training of the complete system at customer’s site.
